Citi has officially launched its most premium travel rewards card yet — the Citi Strata Elite Card. Designed to compete with other high-end cards like the Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve, the Strata Elite brings a strong lineup of travel benefits, lounge access, and transfer partners — including the just-announced ability to transfer points 1:1 to American Airlines AAdvantage®.

If you’re looking for a premium card to unlock flexible travel rewards, luxury perks, and valuable transfer options, here’s everything you need to know about Citi’s newest contender.

Welcome Offer

The current public welcome bonus on the Citi Strata Elite is:

Earn 80,000 ThankYou® Points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months of account opening.

Receive the elevated offer of 100,000 ThankYou Points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months of account opening by applying in-branch.

Based on typical redemption values (1.5–2.0 cents per point), that’s worth approximately $1,200–$2,000 in travel — or potentially more with strategic redemptions through Citi’s airline transfer partners.

Key Travel Benefits

The Citi Strata Elite is packed with features designed to reward frequent travelers. Here’s what stands out:

1:1 Transfer Partners

Like the Strata Premier and Citi Prestige, this card gives access to Citi’s full suite of 22+ transfer partners, now including American Airlines AAdvantage® — a major upgrade that makes the program more competitive with Amex and Chase.

$300 Annual Hotel Benefit

Receive $300 off a single hotel stay of 2 nights or more when booked through CitiTravel.com. This benefit is once per year and applies only to prepaid bookings. Applied as discount and can be used across different bookings if the entire amount is not fully used by the first booking.

Up to $200 Annual Splurge Credit

Every calendar year, earn up to $200 in statement credits on your choice of up to 2 of the following brands: 1stDibs, American Airlines, Best Buy, Future Personal Training, and Live Nation.

Splurge credit merchants must be activated before use, limit 2, and can be changed at any time. LiveNation includes TicketMaster. Events outside the U.S. and its territories are not eligible.

Up to $200 Annual Blacklane® Credit

Every calendar year, earn up to $200 in statement credits when you book with Blacklane, a premium global chauffeur service. Earn up to $100 on Blacklane purchases January through June and up to $100 July through December.

 Priority Pass Select Membership

Enjoy access to 1,500+ airport lounges worldwide for the primary cardholder and up to two guests — a great perk for frequent flyers who value comfort before a flight. No Priority Pass restaurant access. Learn more about ways to access airport lounges here.

American Airlines Admirals Club® Lounge Access Passes

Every calendar year, receive 4 Admirals Club Citi Strata Elite Passes for access to nearly 50 Admirals Club lounges. Inside each of the nearly 50 lounges, you can enjoy a selection of snacks, complimentary cocktails, personal travel assistance and more.

Each accompanying adult will use up a pass, but each adult may bring up to three children with them.

Up to $120 Credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck

Get reimbursed for application fees once every 5 years, helping streamline airport security and customs processes.

 No Foreign Transaction Fees

Perfect for international travel — you’ll avoid the pesky 3% surcharge when spending abroad.

Premium Hotel Benefits

The Reserve by Citi Travel is a collection of hotels that offers experience credits, room upgrades, daily breakfast for two, free wifi, early check in, and late checkout. The Hotel collection offers daily breakfast for two, free wi-fi, early check in, and late checkout. Some perks are upon availability.

I found that these incentives for booking through the travel portal, can truly enhance a stay. If you combine this with using the hotel credit benefit, you can do pretty well. My stay at the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay had similar perks thanks to booking through a credit card portal.

Travel Protections

When using your Citi Strata Elite card to pay for travel, you’ll be protected upon the event of trip cancellation or interruption (common carrier), trip delay, and lost or damaged luggage. Terms apply. This card also has MasterRental coverage (car rental).

Rewards Structure

The Citi Strata Premier Elite earns ThankYou Points on everyday purchases as follows:

  • 12X on Hotels, Car Rentals & Attractions booked through CitiTravel.com
  • 6X on Air Travel booked through CitiTravel.com
  • 6X on Restaurants on Citi Nights (Fri-Sat, 6 pm-6 am ET)
  • 3X on Restaurants at any other time
  • 1.5X on all other purchases

That 12X category is notable for booking through Citi’s portal — although it may be worth comparing prices with other OTAs or booking direct to ensure you don’t lose elite status perks.

While 1.5x on all purchases is fair, the no-annual fee Citi Double Cash card earns 2x on all purchases. This said, you are better off pairing the two cards and only putting travel portal and restaurant spend on Strata Elite, and sticking to the Double Cash for everything else.

Earn even more on groceries or gas by adding on the Citi Custom Cash Card for 5x on your top spending category each billing cycle up to $500 spent.

Annual Fee

The Citi Strata Premier Elite℠ card comes with a $595 annual fee.

The authorized user fee is $75, which you may want to do to share travel benefits with a travel partner or family member.

Transfer Partners

One of the most exciting aspects of this card is its access to Citi’s full suite of transfer partners, including:

  • American Airlines AAdvantage® (NEW!)
  • ALL Accor Live Limitless: 2:1 transfer ratio
  • Aeromexico Rewards: 1:1 transfer ratio
  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue: 1:1 transfer ratio

If you fly American Airlines or value Citi’s niche transfer partners, the Strata Elite is uniquely positioned. But if you prioritize luxury lounges like Amex Centurion or simple statement credits, the competition remains strong.

Who Should Get the Citi Strata Premier Elite?

This card is ideal for:

  • Travelers who value American Airlines miles but want flexible points
  • Those who will leverage lounge access regularly
  • People who spend heavily in travel and dining, who don’t mind booking through the portal.
  • Citi loyalists or ThankYou Points collectors looking for premium benefits

It may not be the best fit for:

  • Occasional travelers who won’t use the lounge or hotel benefits
  • People focused on cashback or simple redemptions
  • Those who already carry the Citi Strata Premier and don’t need extra perks

Final Thoughts

The Citi Strata Premier Elite℠ card represents Citi’s most serious push into the premium travel card market yet. With 1:1 AAdvantage transfers, strong earning rates, and comprehensive travel perks, it fills a much-needed space in the ThankYou Points lineup.

For those looking to earn flexible points with premium travel perks — especially if American Airlines is part of your redemption strategy — the Strata Elite could be well worth its $595 annual fee.
