The free premium card? Easy to use annual credits makes it a no-brainer to get the Capital Venture X card. The $395 annual fee is made less painful when you get $300 in annual travel credit and 10,000 bonus miles upon each account anniversary. Lounge access and other travel benefits make it a so that all your friends are asking you, ‘Now which card got us this open bar lounge and saved us hundreds on the car rental insurance again?’

VENTURE X WELCOME OFFER: 75,000 Points after $4,000 spend in 3 months

Annual Travel Credits & Miles

The Venture X card comes with an annual $300 travel credit that you can use in the portal. You can easily select to use this credit during booking. While you won’t earn miles on what is credited, it is nice to not have to worry about the credit or rebate coming through after paying.

This travel credit is renews around the time of the account anniversary, and you’ll be able to see exactly when that is in the portal. This credit doesn’t accumulate though, so use it or lose it! I tend to use this travel credit for cheap flights and boutique hotel stays.

Each account anniversary, Venture X cardholders receive 10,000 miles. This can be used to erase $100 worth of travel purchases or transferred to partners for even more value.

Annual credits and miles provide $400 in value yearly to outweigh the $395 annual fee.

Lounge Access

The Venture X gives you access to Capital One Lounges & Landings and a Priority Pass membership. Free access has included the cardholder and two guests, as well as any authorized users and their two guests. However, starting February 2026, lounge access will only be free for the primary cardholder.

Guests of cardholders will have discounted lounge entry fees. For Capital One Lounges and Landings, guest pricing will be $45, and $25 for guests 17 and under. Children under 2 years old remain free. For Priority Pass lounges, guest pricing will be $35 per person.

Authorized users can pay an annual fee of $125 to gain lounge access.

Similar to the American Express Platinum card, if the primary Venture X cardholder spends $75,000 in a calendar year then they can bring up to two complimentary guests into lounges that calendar year and the following.

Lounge access is one my favorite perks on the Venture X card, and I detail everything you need to know about Capital One Venture X lounge access in another article.

2x Miles Earned Everywhere

Everyone should be earning at least 2 miles per dollar on every purchase. The Venture X card delivers this 2x in a straightforward way with no spend categories to worry about. Earn 2 miles per dollar everywhere and miles never expire. This is a go-to card for me for shopping, entertainment, and paying bills.

The Capital One Travel Portal

5x Miles on Flights Booked Through the Portal

Book flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One’s travel portal to earn 5x miles per dollar spent. Double check the prices with the airlines, as all categories of ticket may not always be available in the portal. If it is a slight difference then the 5x miles can makes up for it.

10x Miles on Hotels & Cars Booked on the Portal

With the Venture X card, you’ll earn 10x miles on stays and rental cars booked though the portal. This is one of the best multipliers of any credit card travel portal.

Premium Stays

The Venture X card also gives you access to Premium Stays on the portal that are part of their Premier and Lifestyle collections. This is similar to Amex’s Fine Hotels & Resorts and Chase’s The Edit. This collection of hotels offers an experience credit and benefits like room upgrades, free breakfast, and early or late checkout.

This can save you a ton of money at beautiful resorts, like the one I stayed at in Kauai. At the 1 Hotel in Hanalei Bay, my family and I benefited from a similar partnership to get free breakfast (which would have been over $45 each) and put the resort credit toward lunch and water sports equipment rentals.

Travel Portal Price Protection and Matching

The Capital One Travel Portal has Hopper price prediction built right in, so it tells you whether this is the best time to book your flight or not. If it recommends you purchase it, and the price drops within the next ten days of purchase, you’ll automatically receive a travel credit of up to $50 for the difference in fare.

They also accept price matches on the same flight, hotel, our car within 24 hours of booking with Capital One. Call their specialists so they can verify the price match claim and you’ll get the difference back in travel credit.

Ways to Use Miles

Travel Eraser

Erase travel purchases using your miles for 1 cent each. This is a nice way to cover travel expenses like Ubers, airline fees, and rental cars after the trip.

Transfer Partners

These miles can also be transferred to airline and hotel partners for greater value. Combine your timing with a transfer bonus to get even more out of your miles. Great transfer partners like Aeroplan, Virgin Atlantic, and Flying Blue, make business class redemptions within reach.

I’ve used Capital One Miles to fly to Australia in business class by booking through Aeroplan, gone to see Taylor Swift in Paris on the cheap thanks to Virgin Atlantic, and am planning my next trip via Flying Blue to get business class to Europe for 60k.

Gift Cards & Amazon

While I do not recommend redeeming miles this way, they can also be used to buy gift cards or redeem within Amazon.

Sharing Miles

Miles can be shared with any Capital One customer that has a card that earns miles. Just call the number on the back of your card and have their credit card number handy. It is an instant transfer with no caps or limitations.

Miles can also be moved and combined across different cards. This can be done online and is great to put together miles into a single account for a valuable redemption. This also means you can maximize miles earnings by getting Capital One cards that earn more in certain categories like the Savor card for 3x on dining and grocery.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

With no foreign transaction fees, the Venture cards are great for international travelers. Never overpay for a meal or souvenir by selecting to pay with the foreign currency(which offers the best exchange rate), and not have any associated fees. Hotel, activities, and flights abroad can all be processed in the local currency, so it is important to have a credit card available that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Credit

Another great feature for travelers is the up to $120 credit for Global entry or TSA PreCheck. You’ll have this credit available to use once every 4 years (for renewal).

TSA PreCheck is practically essential nowadays to make it through the TSA in one piece. It’s so convenient to be able to breeze through airport security without taking off your shoes or removing items from your bag.

Global entry makes returning home from travel even easier with kiosks making customs an expedited process. Global Entry also includes TSA PreCheck, so you don’t have to choose only having one.

Additional Benefits

Hertz Status

Venture X cardholders receive complimentary Hertz President’s Circle Status. This status lets you skip the line at the rental counter and select any car from the President’s Circle area. While I haven’t used this benefit due to Hertz’s clunky website not linking well to reservations and generally much higher prices, this may be useful at some time!

I wish I had done my booking through Hertz when I was trying to fit 7 people and all their luggage into an SUV, when what we really needed was a bigger vehicle from the President’s Circle. Lessons learned!

Cultivist Membership Discount

This one is for the museum lovers. Cultivist annual membership at the Enthusiast level is discounted 50% for Capital One Venture X cardholders, making it $220. The major benefit of this membership is free admission for you and a guest to over 60 museums around the world.

This may be worth it if you are going to a city with a high concentration of these museums that you would be interested in seeing. I used the Cultivist benefits in Paris to go to museums like the Louvre and many others for free. These tickets are also often skip-the-line or offer other perks. You’ll also get access to other art related events.

Primary Rental Car Insurance

What makes this distinct from many other cards is that the auto rental collision insurance coverage is primary, meaning it doesn’t have to go through your personal insurance first. This is the only personal card in Capital One’s lineup that offers this benefit.

Welcome Offer

Get the Venture X card to earn 75,000 miles when you spend $4,000 within the first three months. This is at least $750 worth of value, but can be transferred to travel partners for even more value!

If you don’t need so many travel benefits or would rather not prepay for your travel in the form of an annual fee, then check out the Venture card which still earns 2x everywhere. For a direct comparison between the Capital One venture cards, check out the side by side analysis.
