When staying in Paris, your visit will be very colored by the area in which you stay. There are countless neighborhoods within the 20 arrondissements in Paris so it is important to choose wisely. When I visited Paris I stayed in the Saint Michel area, and loved it! I chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Notre Dame (NOT like American Holiday Inns at all) in the Saint Michel area because of its proximity to important museums and attractions as well as to the Saint Germain area. It turned out to be an even better location than I thought because of its proximity to the metro, taxis, as well as tons of great restaurants. It was not very touristy as right down one of the streets there was a really great local’s scene too. We walked to Notre Dame as well as down the Seine both at night and during the day and it felt very safe and was very entertaining with various street performers in different areas. The view from the hotel rooftop bar was spectacular (featured above) and so I especially recommend going there for a drink (best mojito I’v ever had, and I’m from Miami!). With an incredible atmosphere and location, you can’t beat Saint Michel for a memorable stay in Paris!
