World of Hyatt

Hyatt Points are best acquired through the World of Hyatt card or on a Chase card that transfers points 1 to 1 to Hyatt. Resort fees are waived on award stays.

  • Location: Canyons Village in Park /City
  • Amenities: S’mores kit, fire pit, pool, parking included, spread of small bites from 5-7 pm daily, limited ski shuttle service, free public bus stop near hotel
  • What to know: The Hyatt Place Park City is a great value for Park City although it is a bit more removed from the action by being on the canyons end. It is one of the Hyatt Places that is testing a fee for breakfast (no longer complimentary, unless a status holding member).

  • Location: Easily walk to ski lifts and restaurants in Keystone, Short drive to Abasin, 30 min to Breckenridge
  • Amenities: Free breakfast, hot tub, parking fee $25 daily
  • What to know: Reviews are glowing about the Hyatt Place Keystone. The great location, reasonable rates, and free breakfast make this the perfect place to stay for skiing.

  • Price: 21,000 Points/night,
  • Location: Ski-in/ski-out at Northstar
  • Amenities: Studio room, access to village swim fitness center and an indoor/outdoor spa
  • What to know: This timeshare style resort offers great access to the slopes being right next to the Highlands gondola.

Hilton Honors

Get Hilton points with a Hilton co-branded credit card or transfer Amex membership rewards at a transfer ratio of 1 to 2. Points are frequently on sale for half a cent each if you are in need of some Hilton Points.

Highline Vail- A Doubletree (Colorado)

  • Price: 80,000 points/night
  • Location: A few minutes drive to Vail Village
  • Amenities: Pool, hot tub, cookies, parking included, shuttle service to Vail mountain
  • What to know: Guests can be caught off guard by limited services like the frequently closed spa. If you spend most of your day on the mountain and want to be in Vail specifically then the Highline Vail could be a good option.

  • Price: 70,000 points/night
  • Location: A short walk (across the street) from the lifts at Breckenridge Mountain Resort, half a mile to mainstreet
  • Amenities: Hot tub, shuttle service, parking fee $55 daily, $10 daily food and beverage credit
  • What to know: Hotel Alpenrock has just opened this season after a major renovation. A fantastic location with a recent facelift, this looks promising to become a new go-to hotel for many skiers.

  • Price: 65,000 points/night
  • Location: Across the street from Park City Mountain Resort, a few minutes ride to Main Street
  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, hot tub, cookies, ski shuttle, Starbucks, game room, daily complimentary afternoon appetizer spread
  • What to know: I’ll be staying at the Doubletree this winter season so I’ll be sharing my experience there soon, the location seems better than the Sheraton Park City I’ve stayed at before. We’ll see how their amenities compare.

  • Price: 80,000 Hilton points/night, or off-peak from 46k
  • Location: In Whistler Village, steps from the gondola
  • Amenities: Hotel car service within Whistler Village, Japanese spa, outdoor pool, hot tub, self parking C$37/night
  • What to know: The Hilton Whistler is currently under renovation, so some amenities may not be available. Keep it in mind for next ski season!

  • Location: 20 minutes from ski slopes at Heavenly Mountain Resort, walking distance to restaurants
  • Amenities: Ski storage, pool, hot tub, firepit, free breakfast, parking fee $15 daily
  • What to know: The Hampton Inn itself is not remarkable but delivers solid value for a stay in the South Tahoe area.

Marriott Bonvoy

Points prices are dynamically priced in relation to cash price so book five nights to get a free night and more bang for your points. Resort fees are not waived on award stays, so I’ve included it in the descriptions below.

As one of the largest hotel brands, Marriott points are always a great asset to planning any vacation. For ski vacations in particular, Marriott offers the widest range of affordable accommodations on the mountain.

  • What to know: A few minutes away from Vail Village and Mountain, the Residence Inn Vail’s convenient shuttle service bridges the gap at this clean hotel with spacious rooms.

  • Location: In Breckenridge town, by Main Street

  • What to know: The Residence Inn has a great location, right by Main Street which is where you’ll want to be for apres-ski! The free breakfast and ski shuttle make it easy to get out to the slopes in the morning.

  • What to know: Stellar service and plentiful amenities make the Westin Riverfront a luxury style stay at a bargain.

  • Location: Off I70, 15 minute drive to Vail/Beaver Creek

  • What to know: This new construction hotel has a stylish lobby and the choice between staying at the Towneplace Suites rooms with kitchenettes or the Springhill Suites rooms within the same building.

  • What to know: The Element Basalt hotel delivers solid value in a modern setting, the only drawback being the distance from Aspen.

  • Location: In Park City, five to ten minute ride to mountain base
  • Amenities: Pool, hot tub, steam room, ski shuttle, apres snack and drink spread, s’mores, free laundry room, daily food and beverage credit, resort fee $
  • What to know: The Sheraton is a great property to use Marriott free night certificates (35k/50k), with lots of amenities. The shuttle was quick and convenient to get to the mountain and Main Street. I enjoyed my stay here in 2024, which I detail in this review, and I look forward to staying there again in 2025.

  • What to know: Next to the Ben & Jerry’s factory, the Fairfield Inn Stowe provides great value in Vermont with close access to towns and skiing.

  • Location: In Banff, on the quieter end of town
  • Amenities: Outdoor heated pool, hot tub, welcome drink and snacks, lively lobby with music and games, fun decor in the well laid out rooms to easily accommodate a group, parking fee C$19, bus stop in front of hotel to transit center
  • What to know: Guests enjoy their stay at the Moxy Banff, thanks to the attention given to the design and amenities to ensure a happy and relaxed vibe in a convenient location.

  • Amenities: Shuttle bus to town, pool, hot tub. Standard room type is 1 bedroom villa with full kitchen and king bed, queen sofa bed.
  • What to know: At the Tahoe Ridge Resort the pool could be a distance away from the condo due to the multi-building timeshare layout and the room design my vary.
