I’m a sucker for a good flight deal, in fact I pretty much always have a notification for the latest cheap getaway. What I don’t love is is finding out that deal is not so great once you pay for baggage. So I’ve learned to make do with what the strictest of airlines have allowed for a personal bag, 18 x 14 x 8.

I’ve tried takling this in a few different ways, backpacks, little rolling luggage, and finally the duffel bag. The key is really using every inch you are allowed in a way that is flexible and stuff-able into the infamous box at the gate if need be. While the little rolling luggage seemed practical for walking and organization, in the end it was too structured to fit a few souvenirs on the return trip. Backpacks on the other hand can vary greatly and I would reserve for a longer trip. The best companion for those domestic cheap trips would definitely be this one from Amazon.

This duffel bag is super lightweight, durable, and fits the size requirements perfectly. I can attest to it actually being quite spacious, as I’ve even packed for a week in the winter in it. The bag is also packable which makes it perfect to take with you on long trips in case you need the extra space. It comes in a variety of colors and while there are many vendors for it, just be sure you see the ability for the shoulder strap since some only have the small handles. Soon I’ll be posting the breakdown for how I packed with this bag for my latest trip, until then, happy travels!
